Kinondo Poa Retreat is located only 20 minutes from Diani, the vibrant tourist center of Kenya’s South Coast. Apart from leisure facilities like restaurants, bars, discotheques or a golf course there are supermarkets, hospitals, dentists and ATM's available.

Kinondo Poa Retreat is surrounded by lush tropical gardens, on the edge of the sacred Kaya Kinondo forest. The retreat is a tranquil haven away from mass tourism and its dynamics. Just 100 meters off the crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches of Kenya’s Indian Ocean coastline four traditionally makuti (palm leaves) thatched chalets provide eight spacious air conditioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms and private patios.

Kinondo Poa Retreat Accommodation

Kinondo Poa Retreat rooms all have their own veranda facing the pool, though simple and functional are cozy and spacious, having 25 m². Furniture consists of a comfortable queen bed, protected by a full size mosquito net, bed side tables, arm chairs and a dressing mirror and table with chair.

A water dispenser for chilled or hot water, a mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities are also available. Some of the rooms also have a big Swahili Couch to chill out on or to be used as an additional bed.

The en-suite bathroom is equipped with toilet, hot water shower and sink with mirror. The spacious walk in drawers offer a lot of space for clothes, shoes, bags and suitcases. The shelves are open as closed cabinets in tropical areas often result in mould.

Each room is equipped with a super silent air conditioner.

Kaya Kinondo Eco tourism Project Tour (40 US Dollars per person)
In the morning you visit the Kaya Kinondo Sacred Forest, just a few minutes walk away from the hotel. You will discover beautiful trees, corals (!) and spectacular lianas - and the spiritual rituals of the sacred forest.

After a break which gives you the chance to buy some souvenirs manufactured by the local women groups you will be taken to the village. You will enter a traditional house, see the water points and local inhabitants’ life style.

You have the chance to fetch water from a 20 feet deep well. You visit a traditional Medicine Man/Woman, witness and take part in a demonstration of an age old healing process. After paying a visit to a local primary school, getting a presentation with the head teacher, you will be taken back to your hotel for lunch at 1.00 PM.

3 Nights at Kinondo Poa Retreat + 3 Days Tsavo East + Taita Hills Sanctuary Safari
Day 1: Tsavo East National Park (Overnight at Voi Safari Lodge on Full Board)

You would be picked up from your hotel at 0500 hours to be driven along the main Mombasa – Nairobi highway and after about two and a half hours, you enter Tsavo East National Park through Bachuma gate. Mid-morning game drive looking out for the big five as well as other animals, lunch at Voi Safari Lodge.

Afternoon game drive in this park famed for its red elephants which earn their name from dusting themselves in the red soil, until evening time to return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Tsavo West National Park, (Overnight at Taita Salt Lick Lodge on Full Board basis)

Early morning tea or coffee and a snack the depart for morning game drive returning time for breakfast then game drive enroute to Taita Hills Sanctuary to arrive time for mid morning then game drive then further drive to arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Taita Hills lodge.

Afternoon game drive until time for dinner and overnight at the Sarova Salt Lick Safari Lodge.

Day 3: Kinondo Poa Retreat

Early in morning you would have tea or coffee and a snack then depart for morning game drive returning time for breakfast then leave for another game until time for lunch in the lodge. You would depart to coastal hotel would follow to arrive at your coastal hotel in the evening.
