Kilimanjaro Climb/ Trek Overview

Umbwe Trek starts on the southern side of Mount Kilimanjaro at Umbwe Gate. This is a fairly steep route, and is recommended for the very fit or experienced trekker.

Steep forest paths give way to heath and moorland before becoming rocky, and this is where the trek becomes more challenging. Approach to the summit is via Barafu and Stella Point with the descent being via Mweka.
