Kicheche Laikipia Camp is a small luxurious Tented Camp set on the equator overlooking a waterhole in the centre of the 110,000-Acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy, which lies on the Laikipia Plains, 217 Kilometers from Nairobi and 14 Kilometers from Nanyuki Town.

 

Transfers by road from Nairobi take approximately 3.5 hours. Kicheche Laikipia Camp is a small luxurious tented camp, which stands on the Laikipia Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The camp is surrounded by indigenous forest and overlooks a waterhole.

 

Kicheche Laikipia Camp has six custom-built luxury tents, there is also a central dining tent and safari lounge. Its twelve guests are hosted by the inimitable Andy and Sonja Webb. Kicheche Laikipia Camp tents are custom designed and are fully insect-proof with en-suite bathrooms equipped with a dresser, flushing toilet and hot showers.

 

There are comfortable chairs on each verandah overlooking the waterhole. One tent can be converted into a triple on request. There is a spacious well furnished lounge and dining tent, although guests prefer to eat alfresco if weather permits.

Kicheche Laikipia Camp in The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is 110,000 acres of wilderness offers an incredibly un crowded environment to enjoy quality game viewing. The Conservancy is home to Kenya's largest population of Black Rhino, large numbers of elephant, cheetah, lion, leopard and plentiful plains game.

 

There are also a number of rarer Northern species such as Grevys Zebra, Jacksons Hartebeest and Beisa Oryx. The Conservancy lies on the Equator 30 minutes drive from Nanyuki airstrip and affords wonderful views of Mt Kenya.

* Children 3 - 11 years: 50% of the adult rate on accommodation

* Sole use of vehicle is available at 265 US Dollars per vehicle per day
* Guests departing in the afternoon will be required to vacate their tent by 10am

* Conservancy fees are payable in advance with accommodation. They are calculated on a per night basis

* Conservancy fee is 40 US Dollars per night for children 3 to 11 Years and 75 US Dollars for Adults Per Day

* Non-Residents Accommodation Rate includes: Full board accommodation, drinks (excluding champagne) and laundry. Excludes all activities

* Infants under 3: Free of Charge. However, please note that the camp is not conducive to infants and no baby equipment such as cots and high chairs are provided

* Guided visits to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary

* Radio-collared lion tracking with the Ol Pejeta lion researcher

* Individual rhino assessments with researcher identification material

* A Horse Riding excursion is one of the best experiences in the bush

* Guided wildlife & Nature walks on the open plains and along the river
* Rhino tracking with the Ol Pejeta rangers (maximum 2 guests per patrol)

* Elephant and general wildlife monitoring with resident rangers and researchers
* Input of data discovered into the Ol Pejeta computer database Boran and Ankole cattle pastoral care eg herding and spraying
* Learn how to use radio-tracking equipment to find, for example, the resident cheetah Toki (featured in the BBC documentary ‘Toki's Tale')
* Guests may have the opportunity to observe special activities such as animal capture/release should they be going on during their time on the Conservancy
