Mutara Tented Camp Laikipia is a luxury canvas tented camp located within the 20,000-acre Mutara Conservancy bordering the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia. The camp is set North of the ancient Aberdares Forest, and west of the snow-capped Mount Kenya, the exclusive Jambo Mutara Tented Camp sits above the tropical equator in one of the most unique places on earth.

The camp is located 17 km from Nanyuki town and 217 km from Nairobi. Transfers by road from Nairobi take approximately 3-4 hours. The nearest airport is Nanyuki which is 51 km from Mutara Camp.

Mutara Tented Camp Laikipia has 15 luxury canvas tents all with top-class interior furnishings. Each en-suite tent is elegantly fitted with a fully stocked minibar, telephone, tea/coffee making facilities, and cozy reading area, and guests can enjoy sundowners on their own private deck, looking out onto endless Africa, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the bush.

There is an in-house restaurant that serves a variety of continental delicacies and guests can enjoy their meals in the elegant dining area or on the terrace. The well-stocked bar offers a wide selection of wines, beverages, and liquors. The camp has a well-maintained swimming pool where guests can either relax or enjoy swimming sessions at any time of the day.

Laikipia holds some of the greatest and most diverse populations of wildlife in East Africa. Significant populations of endangered species live here, including the black rhino, the African wild dog, and Grevy’s zebra. Mutara Conservancy has four of the ‘Big Five’ namely; lion, leopard, buffalo, and elephant.

Several other animals that can be seen here include plains zebra, giraffe, small antelopes and bucks, Grant’s gazelle, impala, warthog, and hyena, the beautiful and endangered oryx, cheetah, and occasional packs of African wild dog

Mutara Tented Camp activities include day and night game drives, bush walks, bush dining, sundowners, night drives, bird watching, mountain biking, visiting Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Mount Kenya Climb and boat rides at Mutara Dam.
