Adnan Suite

Adnan Abbas is the nephew of the hotel owner, Javed Jafferji. Jafferji spent most of his early life in Pakistan, Adnan’s home, and his love for the beautiful country is apparent in every aspect of this suite.

Jafferji’s intimate portraits of his time in Pakistan adorn the walls and the suite is delicately lit with traditional Pakistani lighting. A night in the Adnan suite will whisk you away to the enchanting land of Pakistan.

Livingstone Suite

It was Dr Livingstone – pioneer, missionary and explorer, who bravely traversed the continent and whose inspirational speech ultimately led to the end of the global slave trade.

His legacy has a huge impact on the history of Zanzibar, and this suite, painted in the rich red of the African soil across which he traveled for over thirty years is dedicated to him.

In true Zanzibari style, the suite is decorated with an ornate carved Swahili door, traditional four poster bed and antique colonial furniture. It is a stunning tribute to a man who dedicated his life to “freeing Africa”.

Mercury Suite

One of the world’s most flamboyant rock stars, Freddy Mercury, was born just meters away from Jafferji House.

Born into a middle-class family of Persian descent, Mercury spent the early years of his life in Stone Town before being sent to India for school.

True to Freddy’s colorful personality, the suite is decorated in rich, bold hues, luxurious antique furniture and a sumptuous carved bed.

The suite looks down on the very streets in which Mercury used to play, and to satisfy the rock star in all of us, the bathroom features a sculpted bath, shower and double sinks.

Out of Africa Suite

This large room, dedicated to the famous film of the same name, is inspired by the natural beauty found throughout Africa. Decorated in bright African colors, the suite’s bold color palette matches its bold interior.

Unwind in the magnificent bed adorned with beautiful carved legs and headboard, decorated with traditional African geometric patterns. Or, relax in the traditional African antique furniture carefully placed around the room. Guests in this suite can expect a traditional African experience.

An optional bed can also be placed in this suite on request.

Princess Salme’s Suite

Princess Salme was the daughter of Zanzibar’s famous Sultan Said. She fell out of favor with the royal family, however, and sought comfort in the arms of her German neighbor Heinrich Ruete.

They fell deeply in love while talking from their windows across Stone Town’s narrow streets, and it is believed she fled to Germany, pregnant with her lover’s illegitimate child. Futile attempts at reconciling with her family were not successful, and the Princess lived the rest of life in exile in Syria.

Decorated with the grandest furniture of the Sultan’s time, and adorned with custom fittings and a fully sculpted bathroom, this suite radiates royal opulence. Bold, bright colors recreate the sense of passion and love which the Princess experienced her entire life, and a luxurious four poster bed makes it a room truly fit for a princess.

The Spice House Suite

Enter the Spice House Suite, and you’ll instantly be surrounded by the beautiful scents of the spice trade from which Zanzibar drew its name and wealth. In days gone by, local traders would risk their lives traveling by sea to make sure their wares reached their destination.

As a tribute to these traders, the Spice House Suite is filled with the many beautiful treasures they brought with them upon their return. From the rich hues on the walls, the exotic scents of the spices and the Moroccan inspired bathroom, the suite is designed to be a rejuvenating experience, and will leave you feeling truly relaxed.

Stanley Suite

Henry Morton Stanley was sent to Africa to find the lost Dr Livingstone. Upon finally finding him, it is believed he said “ Dr Livingstone, I presume…”, a quote that has been immortalized in history.

Stanley’s travels took him from Zanzibar all the way up the mouth of the Nile, and he is considered to be one of the greatest European explorers of the 19th Century.

Zanzibar Kabisa Suite

Zanzibar Kabisa means “completely Zanzibar”, and like the name suggests, the suite is designed to give you an authentic taste of Zanzibar from days gone by.

Kizimkazi Boat Trip
Take a one hour drive from to Stone Town to Kizimkazi, on Zanzibar’s south coast for a day of dolphin spotting. Kizimkazi is home to large numbers of bottle-nosed and spinner dolphins, beautiful coral reefs and tropical fish. On arrival, you’re given a short safety briefing and the dos and don’ts when faced with these wild animals. Then, you board a traditional ocean going dhow and set sail on the Indian Ocean in search of dolphins.

You can get as close as 10 to 20 metres away from the dolphins. Sleek and grey, they jackknife through the water, sometimes showing off with jumps and twists. In the past, some tourists have been lucky enough to swim and snorkel with these magical animals.

However, the dolphins aren’t tame, and can be shy and elusive. Although visitors see dol-phins on the majority of outings, there are no guarantees. Whether you’re fortunate enough to see dolphins or not, you can enjoy two hours sailing and taking in the sights of the ocean. There’s superb snorkelling in the pristine coral reef and swimming in the clear, warm water of the Indian Ocean.

You’ll return to the beach for lunch, where you can swim in the shallower waters and talk to the crew, who can tell you sea stories about the one that got away.

North Coast Tour
The north coast is the dhow building capital of Zanzibar. Your drive to Nungwi will take you past the fish markets, where you can see freshly caught seafood being auctioned. There’s a stop at the ruins of an old Portuguese settlement, where your guide will explain the history of the ruins and the Portuguese conquest of Zanzibar, dating back to 1497.

A stop at the blacksmith is fascinating. Tools are still made in the traditional way for constructing dhows. At the construction site, dhows are built in the same way they have for centuries, skilled craftsmen bending wood to create the dhows. Visitors may be invited to try their hand at this unique craft.
