From Nairobi our safari heads to the northern Samburu & Shaba Game Reserves. A rugged, semi-arid region that is home to unusual species such as Grevy zebra and reticulated giraffe, as well as Oryx, gerenuk, Somali ostrich and dik-dik. Elephant, lion, cheetah and leopard are also resident and are regularly seen on morning and evening game drives.

 

For contrast, three Days are spent game viewing in the rolling green plains of the Masai Mara. Considered to be the best of Kenya's wildlife areas, the Mara is the northern end of the Serengeti Ecosystem, and is the pathway of the yearly wildebeest migration that comes north from Tanzania around mid-July and then circles back around October. The fertile Mara plains sustain an enormous amount of game and are home to the Masai people.

 

If time allows we suggest that you end your safari with a few Days lazing on the beach as Serena Hotels have a beautiful coastal property that is also competitively priced. Ask us to customize a Serena Safari to suit your budget and your time constraints.

 

Day 1 Nairobi Serena
On arrival in Nairobi you will be met and transferred to the Serena Hotel for your overnight stay.

 

Day 2/3 Nairobi –Samburu and Shaba National Reserve
You will be collected you from the Serena and transferred to Wilson Airport for the flight to Samburu & Shaba National Reserve. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Samburu Serena for your 2 night stay - all game viewing and meals are included.

Day4/5/6 Samburu- Masai Mara Game Reserve
Transfer to Samburu Airport for your flight along Africa's Great Rift Valley, passing over lakes and volcanoes, you reach the Masai Mara on Kenya's southern border. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Mara Serena for your 3 night stay. Again all game viewing and meals are included.

 

Day 7 Masai Mara- Nairobi
After a morning ‘Spice’ game drive, time permitting and your safari ends with a flight to Nairobi Airport.
