Elementaita Country Lodge Bird Watching
Elementaita Country Lodge offers you the perfect opportunity of spotting the different species of birds available in Kenya. This can be done at Lake Elementaita and the nearby Lake Nakuru.

There are over 430 different species of birds including pelicans and flamingos that have been sighted in the Elementaita and Nakuru zone, making our country lodge a bird watcher’s paradise.

The zone is a world renowned location for flamingos and has a picturesque landscape that incorporates marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky outcrops and stiffs providing a perfect place for birds.

Besides flamingos, there are other bird varieties such as water ducks, cape pigeon, blacksmith plover, crowned plover, and spurwing plover as well as other birds of prey such as the long crested eagle, augur buzzard, grey headed king fisher, the cuckoo and various sunbirds.

Elementaita Country Lodge Pre Historic Sites
Kenya is renowned for its many pre historic sites, which you will find worthwhile visiting. At Elementaita Country Lodge, you will have a chance of visiting Hyrax Hill and Kariandusi pre historic sites, which are 15 km and 5 km respectively from the lodge.

Hyrax Hill was formed as a museum in 1965 with a variety of ethnographic materials. Hyrax Hill is a renowned archaeological site and is visited by thousands of people conducting research on East Africa’s prehistory period.

Kariandusi Pre-historic site, which was first discovered in 1928, has a museum that contains exhibits such as Stone-Age hand axes, black volcano glass knives and many more.
