a fun filled day of dhow sailing, sun bathing, swimming,
seafood, dolphin spotting and adventurous snorkeling
in Kisite Marine Park!
Get
a glimpse of local culture while visiting Wasini village,
the Coral Garden and Shimoni’s Slave Cave. Enjoy
tropical seafood lunch at Wasini Island. Pick
up at your hotel in Diani and drive to the historical
small fishing village of Shimoni at the South Coast.
On the way, you will have the opportunity to see rural
villages, tall palm trees and lush greenery.
Slave
Caves: A
local guide will lead you through the Shimoni caves
where slaves were “stored” during the old
slave trading days before shipment to the Zanzibar slave
market.
Departure
to Kisite & Breakfast: At
the Shimon piers, you board a traditional Arab Dhow
for a cruise in the Marine Park accompanied by a light
breakfast while on board. Our tour guides and Dhow crew
will inform you about the trip and answer any questions
you may have.
Do
not hesitate to ask them if you are eager to learn since
they are well informed and professional. Dolphin Spotting:
While at the Indian Ocean pay attention to the deep
waters as you enjoy your ride, there are high chances
of spotting Dolphins.
Snorkeling:
Snorkel and marvel at the rich marine life where corals,
exotic fish and sea plants are protected. You will be
provided with masks and snorkels and will be accompanied
by certified and experienced guide. Assistance is also
provided to first timers. While back on board, you can
refresh yourself with fruits and soft drinks.
Lunch:
Sail
to Wasini Island, where a tropical seafood lunch is
waiting for you at the “Coral Spirit Restaurant”.
The four-course menu includes crab, fish, sea weed and
rice with coconut sauce.
You
can also opt for a chicken or vegetarian menu. Beer,
wine and soft drinks are included. The restaurant, built
on coral architecture and located directly at the shores,
overlooks the channel towards Shimoni. It is built and
run on eco- friendly methods.
Wasini
Village & Coral Garden (optional):
After lunch, you have the option to take a discovery
stroll through the Island and its Swahili culture, visiting
the beautiful coral garden and the mangrove forest.
Our
guide will give you an in depth oration throughout the
tour. Alternatively, you can relax at the restaurant,
enjoying the sea view and the breeze. Return to your
hotel.
