Deloraine House Bush Home; Deloraine House Bush Home is situated on the western side of the Rift Valley at Rongai, 10 minutes off the main Nakuru-Kericho road. Deloraine House is a fine example early 20th century architecture and is an elegant 2 storey building. The 5,000 acre estate is in a magnificent location on the western edge of the Great Rift Valley, on the lower slopes of Mount Londiani. It is about 90 minutes away from Nairobi and about a 45 minute drive from Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its flamingos and rhino. Game drives can be arranged in Lake Nakuru National Park.

 

Deloraine House has fine tropical gardens which include a croquet lawn and a tennis court, both available for guests to use. There is also stabling for up to 80 horses and guests are welcome to ride around the farm and the nearby mountain, enjoying the spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. Alternatively the area can be explored on foot and Deloraine House staffs are happy to take guests on local walks. Guests are accommodated in the main house and there are also some rooms in a separate guest cottage. Meals are served in the dining or outside on the veranda.

 

Deloraine House Bush Home is ideally situated for safaris coming from the east of the Rift Valley on their way to the Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru, Lake Bogoria and Lake Baringo are within easy reach. Two or three night stays at Deloraine House Bush Home are recommended as it is a unique experience to sample a bit of colonial history during a safari to East Africa. Many British Royalty have stayed, including the Queen Mother and the Duchess of York, when a young bride. And indeed, Lord Scott's niece Alice married the Duke of Gloucester, grandson of King George V.

Deloraine House

Deloraine house is a fabulous colonial estate and is the family home of legendary hosts Cindy and Tristan Voorspuy. Deloraine house with its 5 bedrooms in the main house and 3 in a detached cottage, guests are invited to enjoy the Deloraine never ending house party, with a wide range of horsey activities including polo, some pleasant hill walking and time spent relaxing around the pool. The ultimate in shabby chic, Deloraine house serves as a really wonderful window on the white tribe of Kenya past and present. Built by Lord Francis Scott in 1920, a prominent early settler instrumental in developing farms throughout Kenya and set in 3500 acres of farm, it is one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in Kenya. Your time Deloraine house will reflect the elegant lifestyle of a bygone era.

 

Tristan and Lucinda Voorspuy have lived Deloraine for over 15 years with their two children. Immaculately run by Cindy, guests are welcome to join in with the house party atmosphere. Upstairs there are 3 large bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and a further 2 bedrooms suitable for a family wanting to share a bathroom. Downstairs the large drawing room and dining room provide the ideal setting for a house party with an outside veranda that overlooks the beautiful tropical gardens. There is also a cottage adjacent to the house with 3 separate double en-suite rooms.

 



Safari Activities at Deloraine House

Guest at Deloraine house are welcome to use yard and stables, with approximately 80 horses, among them some of the finest polo ponies in Kenya. Ride around the farm and the nearby mountain providing spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. There is also a cross country course and a polo ground.


Deloraine house guests can also go on a full day's game drive with picnic lunch to Lake Nakuru National Park.
