Crater
Lake Camp Naivasha has 10 Tents, 2 Bandas and 1 Honeymoon
suite making the total number of room to 13. Each tent
occupies its own clearing, with secluded veranda offering
spectacular views across the lake.
The
tents are a picture of rustic sophistication, with elegant
four-poster beds and reproduction furniture combined
with modern en suite bathrooms in a charming, comfortable
blend of old and new.
Five
of the tents at Crater Lake Camp have single beds, five
doubles; two are solid bandas’, with bunk-beds
available for children. No noise - just the twittering
of birds and the sound of the acacias blowing in the
African wind.
Sleep
soundly in cozy tents under a sparkling night sky, and
wake up to the chattering of Columbus monkeys. No hustle
or bustle just delicious home cooked food, long walks
through the bush and the soft light of kerosene lanterns.
Each of the double tents has a private veranda and view
of the lake.
Tucked
away in a hidden corner of Kenya’s Great Rift
Valley, Crater Lake Lodge offers a stirring encounter
with wild Africa. This magical lakeside Camp is the
perfect stopover en route to the Nakuru and the Masai
Mara game parks, as well as a romantic getaway by itself.
At
Crater Lake, the wild world of Africa meets the refined
elegance of the colonial era in an utterly enchanting
location.
Here,
you can sip chilled champagne and dine on the finest
cordon bleu cuisine under the watchful gaze of genet
cats and Colobus monkeys. After dinner, the expert trackers
will transport you to another world among the hippos,
giraffes and leopards that call the Camp’s private
game sanctuary home.
As
the custodian of an important swath of African wilderness,

Facilities and Activities

Lake Camp Naivasha employs its staff from neighboring
communities, and leases part of its game sanctuary for
sustainable woodlots.
A
dedicated team of rangers working in close cooperation
with the Kenya Wildlife Service strictly monitors the
sanctuary itself. The camp recently established its
own community development trust, the Crater Lake Action
Network (CLAN), which is raising funds to fence the
sanctuary as part of the wildlife corridor around Lake
Naivasha

lake in the bottom of an old volcanic crater. The Crater

of this area, rated the ‘Best Tented Camp’

paradise in keeping with its owner’s conservation
ethic, the ten tented bandas have been built entirely
from their environs, with pillars and stairways of finely-carved
acacia set on foundations inlaid with chunks of glinting
obsidian.
All
meals are served in the main mess tent, and the camp
is well known for its great soups, roasts, desserts
and generous helpings of everything. At Crater Lake
camp you are at peace with nature.

alkaline lake changes from blue to emerald green and
back again with each passing hour, and is the nesting
place for a myriad of birds, the fish eagles, busy weavers,
cheeky robin chats, ibis, kite, ducks, sun birds, fire
finches, and the tiny and colorful cordon bleu. During
