Chui Lodge; Chui Lodge is situated just above the shores of Lake Naivasha within the Great Rift Valley. Nestled in a grove of Euphorbia trees overlooking a waterhole, Chui Lodge truly is the epitome of the Masai word Oserian meaning “Place of Peace”.

Chui Lodge is set in the privately owned 20,000 acre Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary overlooking a waterhole with the dramatic Mau Escarpment as a back drop. The Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary plays host to a diverse number of mammalian & avian species including White Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo, Giraffe, Cheetah, Grevy Zebra, Oryx and a large number of plains game.

Built in 1998 by Hans and June Zwager, Chui Lodge is now still owned and cared for by the family, who live at the stunning Djinn Palace nearby. History runs through this area from the days of the early settlers and from within the Moorish domes and castellation of the Palace came a family committed to supporting wildlife and conservation in the area.

Chui Lodge Accommodation
Chui Lodge has eight individual well-spaced luxurious cottages, each with an en-suite bathroom and delightful verandah with views of the Sanctuary and the Rift escarpment stretching into the horizon.

Magnificent four-poster olive wood king-sized beds, roaring log fires, artistically decorated windows and handcrafted furniture ensure the essential touch of luxury.

Chui Lodge is crafted from simple bush stone, local Acacia, Leleshwa and Olive woods with a beautiful twisted Marula roof. All the textiles in the Lodge are original African batik artworks done on site, whose warm shades enhance the earthy colors of the ochre enriched walls. Magical bark cloth lampshades bathe the African antiques and fascinating carvings on the pillars in subtle light.

Chui Lodge eight individual and well-spaced cottages are built in the same fashion as the main building. Each room is uniquely designed with en-suite bathrooms and a delightful veranda with its own view. The marble basin tops, roaring log fires, painted windows and magnificent four poster olive wood king sized beds ensure the essential touch of luxury.

With only five rooms available, guests can expect to receive excellent service from staff and attention to detail like no other place ever visited. A short walk from the main building is the delightful swimming pool with great views of the waterhole and the Escarpment.

Chui Lodge Recreation

Chui Lodge dining room, lounge and bar area is simply unique and features pillars and murals with intricate African carvings, African antiques and ochre-colored earth walls creating the feel of an artist's gallery.

Meals can be taken outside (weather permitting) within the grounds of the lodge and menus feature an array of international cuisine.

Often bush breakfasts and sundowners are a Sanctuary or lake shore affair since the day's timetable for guests is completely flexible. A short walk from the main building is Chui Lodge delightful heated swimming pool with great views of a variety of wildlife visiting the waterhole and the Escarpment. By road: Approximately 1½ hours driving time from Nairobi.

By air: To nearby airstrips Oserian (10 minutes) and Loldia (35 minutes): Oserian private airstrip is used for private charters.

Chui Lodge has easy access to Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary which has over 320 bird species and a wide array of wildlife including White Rhino, Buffalo, big and small cats, a large variety of antelope and the Grevy Zebra on your own private and exclusive game drive or game walks.

Chui Lodge Sundowners & Night Game Drives

Along with Chui Lodge game drives in the private sanctuary the lodge also offers sundowners (watching the sunset with a drink and fire whilst listening to the noises of the African dusk), truly the only way to end an exciting day of game viewing!

On the way back to the lodge Chui Lodge guides will take you for a night game drive, this gives a whole new perspective on the sanctuary and using our night lights, greatly improve your chances of seeing Leopard, Lion, Aardvark, Zorilla and Spotted Hyena.

Chui Lodge Flower Farm Visits

Chui Lodge offers visit to the Oserian Flower Farm, one of the largest growers and producers of cut flowers in the world! Here nearly every color, hue, scent and size of rose is carefully and environmentally nurtured for export to international markets.

The visit offers guests the opportunity to see a fully functioning rose farm including how the various rose varieties are produced and see the show room with over 100 different roses.
