Camp Information
Bateleur
Camp at Kichwa Tembo Location
Bateleur
Camp at Kichwa Tembo is a luxury camp that lies on the
border of the Masai Mara National Reserve in south-western
Kenya. Bateleur Camp is ideally located for discovering
the amazing secrets of one of Kenya's finest safari
parks.
Covering
an area of some 1500 square kilometers, the Masai Mara
has an abundance of game throughout the year, but from
June to October comes the climax for which the area
is world famous:
The
Great Migration. Considered to be the most awe-inspiring
spectacle in the animal kingdom, millions of zebra and
wildebeest cross the Mara River on their annual trek
in search of new food sources.
You
can experience the Mara on game drives in open 4x4 safari
vehicles, wonder at it from the vantage of a hot-air
balloon or enjoy a guided nature walk with a Masai guide
armed only with his spear.
Bateleur
Camp at Kichwa Tembo Activities
Bateleur
Camp walks and game drives are led by the Kichwa
Tembo guides. They have all achieved the highest scores
in the Masai Mara, in the Kenya Professional Safari
Guides Association examination.
Exciting
safari activities: Morning and afternoon game-drives
in open 4x4 safari vehicles and exhilarating night drives
on the private concession, guided bush walks, Masai
community visits (optional extra) or spectacular sundowners
with panoramic views across the Mara. You will be spoiled
for choice
Late
July, August and September (dry season) are prime game
viewing months, but there is an abundance of resident
wildlife all year round and superb viewing is by no
means confined to the migration. The black-maned Mara
lions are of special interest.
Cheetah,
giraffe, elephant, a host of antelope and fascinating
monkeys can also be seen. There are also thousands of
topi, a conspicuous bronze-and- brown-coated antelope
not found in other Kenyan parks, apart from Tsavo. Surrounding
Kichwa Tembo is a dense forest filled with smaller mammals
as well as entertaining troops of blue monkey and red-tailed
monkey.
