Asha Cottages; Asha Cottages is a sea-front family-run boutique hotel located in Diani Beach, on the South Coast of Kenya near Mombasa, it offers guests an atmosphere of quality comfort, tranquility and privacy. Asha Cottage was built in the Swahili style on one acre of seafront property. Asha Cottage has a lovely open air verandah that acts as a common entrance and sitting room. It overlooks the pool and faces the sea. Asha Cottage has five guest rooms (approximately 25 m2 each) tastefully decorated with a combination of African fabrics and artwork, Afghan rugs, European art, Swahili style Lamu ceilings, terra cotta floor tiles and solid mvuli carpentry work. Asha Cottage rooms have king-sized beds with mosquito nets and their own spacious bathroom, air conditioning and ceiling fans, and mosquito netting on all windows.

The base package is for a Bed & Breakfast stay, with the option to take Lunch and/or Dinner if desired. Self-catering is not available.

Asha Cottage Dining
Asha Cottage offers good food and good wine through a variety of Italian, Continental, Indian and Swahili dishes. Asha cottage breakfast consist of a full continental breakfast with home-made breads and cakes, a wide variety of jams, yogurts, fresh tropical fruits and fresh fruit juices, cereals, coffee, tea and milk. The lunch consists of a very affordable selection of freshly made soups, salads and sandwiches are available daily. Special buffet lunches are also prepared from time to time. The Ledge is open to the public for lunch. For dinner a full cooked meal, with a selection of two starters, three main courses (fish, meat or vegetarian) and dessert - options change daily. A fine choice of fresh crab, prawns and lobster is available daily upon order.

The beach is one of Asha Cottage's main natural attractions. White sands and crystal clear water year round. The Ledge is Asha Cottage's beach front sand terrace where guests can have meals, drinks and cocktails, take sun, read or simply watch the waves and people as they stroll by.

Asha Cottages Hotel Activities

Asha Cottages hotel has a small local boat (ngalawa) with which guests can go snorkeling or simply meander on the reef (exposed at low tide only) which is about 1.5 km's from the high tide mark. Some snorkeling equipment is available for rent or on sale in the Asha Boutique. Other water sports and deep-sea fishing are also easily available through neighboring hotels and diving clubs (kite surfing, diving, canoeing, etc).

Asha Cottage has a beautiful fresh water swimming pool that is very close to the beach, but remains private and discreet. In full view of all rooms and designed around 50 to 70-year old coconut palm trees, the pool is one of the center-pieces of Asha Cottage. Chlorine and pH are controlled daily.

Asha Cottage has a separate air conditioned (one of the few in Diani Beach) Snooker Room equipped with a half-size snooker table, a lovely card table for bridge and card games, chess or back gammon and a dart board. It has a lovely outside deck overlooking the ocean. With a lovely bookshelf and a selection of books for guests to enjoy (in English and Italian) the Snooker Room is also a lovely place to sit and enjoy the before or after dinner hours in a relaxed company. All drinks and cocktails are served from this bar which also services The Ledge, right on the sea front, where cocktails and, wind permitting, lunch or dinner can be served under the palm trees with the ocean lapping up against the sea wall.

Asha Cottage is delighted to offer a range of beauty and relaxation treatments in its open air garden gazebo. Immersed in a lush flower filled garden the massage room has been designed to bring the natural outdoor elements inside, to make your experience truly relaxing and unique. Asha Cottage professional, trained and highly experienced masseuse provides an array of relaxing and soothing body massages. The following treatments are available daily from 9.30 to 6pm.

Visit the Colubus Trust or the Sacred Forest just down the road or the Shimba Hills, a national game park 45 Minutes away by car. Alternatively, go for a spectacular snorkeling experience in the Kisite National Marine Park followed by a visit to Wasini Island.
