Amboseli Sopa Lodge Flying Safaris from Nairobi takes you to Amboseli National Park - one of the most popular National Parks in Kenya located 135 km from Nairobi. Amboseli offers an interesting contrast in appearance. It has a somewhat dry and dusty appearance, which can be attributed to the volcanic ash that came out of Mt. Kilimanjaro when it last erupted. Mt Kilimanjaro, in fact, is located just about 25 miles away.

However, in spite of the appearance, there is a continuous supply of water that gets filtered through volcanic rocks from Kilimanjaro melted snow. These streams flow underground, creating lush green areas, and converge at two clear water springs in the park. Amboseli visitors mainly come to watch the huge herds of elephants. There are over 900 elephants in the Park.

The bull elephants have some of the largest tusks in all of Kenya. Amboseli wildlife includes the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, caracal and serval cat, lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, wild dog, and hippo. There are also over 400 species of birds, including the bee-eater, kingfisher, African fish eagle, marital eagle and pygmy falcon. Visitors can also enjoy excellent views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Meru.

Detailed Safari Itinerary:

Day 1: Nairobi City Hotel – Amboseli National Park

You are met at your Nairobi hotel. Drive to Wilson airport where you will check in for your flight to Amboseli National Park. Upon arrival in the Amboseli, you are met by your camp/ lodge guides and driven to the superb accommodation for a splendid lunch. Check in to your camp/lodge and relax by the poolside with startling views of Mount Kilimanjaro before heading out for an afternoon game drive.

Amboseli National Park supports a wide range of mammals, well over 50 of the larger species, and birds with over 400 species. African Spice Safaris guests can experience the offerings as well as have the opportunity to view the seasonal Lake Amboseli. Return to Amboseli Sopa Lodge in the evening. Relax with a hot shower and prepare to complete the day with a tasty dinner and comfortable sleep.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

Prepare for an early day after requesting for a wake-up call from the previous night to catch the opening of the Mount Kilimanjaro peak. After a delicious breakfast prepare to enjoy a morning and afternoon game drive in the Amboseli National Park stopping over for lunch at the camp/lodge.

During your wildlife game drives, the snows of Mount Kilimanjaro, white and crystalline, form a majestic backdrop to one of Kenya's most spectacular displays of wildlife - lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo and hosts of plains' game, creating Kenya's most sought after photographer's parades. There are estimated to be around 650 elephants, one of the largest numbers per square kilometer in all of Kenyan parks and reserves.

Amboseli National Park swamps and springs have encouraged the hippos to stay around. Other animals also seen are wildebeest, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, antelopes, zebras, giraffes, gerenuks, gazelles, buffalos and many more. Return to Amboseli Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 3: Amboseli National Reserve – Nairobi City Hotel

After breakfast, check out from your accommodation and drive to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi an African Spice Safaris Representative will meet you and help your transfer to your city hotel.
