MARA
(10 Days / 9 Nights) ROAD AND AIR SAFARI
This 10 Days safari begins with a drive through central
Kenya to Aberdare National Park, with a variety of
flora and fauna. This Park has spectacular scenery
characterized by thick forest and alpine moorland.
Overnight floodlit game viewing at The Ark/treetops/Serena
Mountain Lodge. After the high altitude game viewing,
continue to Sweetwater’s Game Reserve for a
two night stay before proceeding north across the
equator to the rugged landscapes of Samburu National
Reserve. The grand finale is, to the teeming wildlife
of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
Day 1. Nairobi-The Ark Limited
This morning you drive past Thika, an industrial town
surrounded by extensive pineapple plantations, partially
owned by Delmonte Company. After crossing the Tana
River source of Kenya’s hydroelectric power,
the landscape changes and becomes lush as you climb
in to the rich farmlands of the Kikuyu people. Lunch
is served at Out-Span Hotel in Nyeri for the visitors
heading for Treetops and Aberdare Country Club for
those heading to the Ark Limited. Lunch is served
at the Serena Mountain lodge for those spending a
night there.
After lunch, you proceed to your tree hotel where
the night is spent watching different animals as they
come to visit the floodlit waterholes and Saltlicks.
Elephants, Rhino, Buffalo, Giant Forest Hog, Leopard
and many other species frequent the waterholes. Meal

Day 2. The Ark Limited -Sweetwaters
Depart the tree-lodge after breakfast for Sweetwaters
Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch. After lunch,
we pay a visit to Ol Pejeta Ranch. Here there is a
large rhino sanctuary home of Ol’Morani, a resident
rhino who is happy to be petted. The property is also
home of chimpanzee sanctuary established by the Jane
Goodall Institute. While chimps are not native to
this area, they have been brought here for safekeeping.
You will have a chance to meet them face to face,
as you travel by boat down the local river to view
them in their native habitat. Dinner and overnight
at Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp.

Day 3. Explore Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary
Spend a full day at this private sanctuary. Other
than morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game
drives, there are optional activities include nature
walks, horse back riding, camel riding and a night
game drive. Overnight at the luxurious, Sweetwater
s Serena Tented camp.

Day 4. Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary –Samburu
Game Reserve
Today after breakfast, we drive through the quaint
of Isiolo town to the dry Semi-dessert landscape of
Samburu Game Reserve. With it's backdrop of rocky
outcrops and prominent Mountain ranges to the North,
it’s Doum Palm trees and Riverine forest, Samburu
National Reserve has an exotic feel in it. After check-in
into our lodge on the banks of Ewaso Nyiro River,
we have lunch, and on a late afternoon 'Spice' game
drive we are introduced to the unique species of this
Northern Frontier District. You will see wildlife
absent in the Southern Hemisphere that includes Gravy
Zebra's, Reticulated Giraffe's, Somali Ostrich and
much more. Samburu Serena/ /Sarova Shaba lodg/intrepids

Day 5 & 6. Discover Samburu Game Reserve
Two full Days in Samburu were you will see more of
Africa's spectacular wildlife on two exciting 'spice'
game drives in this fascinating Game Reserve. In between
'Spice' game drives, you could do some excellent optional
bird watching, nature walks on the lodge’s grounds.
You will also enjoy watching a crocodile feeding session
along the river. Take the evening atmosphere by relaxing
with a cocktail before a satisfying dinner. Samburu

Day 7. Samburu-Maasai Mara
After a leisure breakfast, board a plane from Samburu
and fly direct to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve-jewel
of Kenya's Game Park. This enormous Reserve actually
part of the vast Serengeti plains is famously known
for it's spectacular great wildebeest migration and
is a true home of the big five-Lion, Elephant, Leopard,
Rhino and Cape Buffalo. After lunch, explore the Reserve
on a late evening 'Spice' game drive. In the evening,
we relax around the campfire before an excellent dinner.

Day 8 & 9. Explore Maasai Mara
Two full Days in Maasai Mara one of the greatest wildernesses
of the world. Morning and afternoon 'Spice' game drives
are planned. Large mammals are varied, abundant and
easy to see. Residents among the parks mammals are;
Maasai Giraffe, Buffalo, Impala, Zebra, Topi, both
the Thomson's and Grant's Gazelles. The best

Air Balloon rides are available on this day at an
additional cost. Overnight at Mara Serena Lodge/ Mara
Simba lodge/Keekorok Lodge/Mara Sopa Lodge. Meal plan:

Day 10.
Maasai Mara-Nairobi
Morning ‘Spice’ game drive followed by
breakfast and depart Maasai Mara by schedule flight
at 1100hrs arriving Nairobi approx 1215hrs. Transfer
to your hotel or to the International airport for
onward flight home.
