Day 3: Samburu – Drive to Aberdare National Park or Mount Kenya National Park

Today we travel to the Ark tree-lodge is uniquely shaped to resemble Noah’s Ark, designed with decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for viewing the animals visiting the salt-lick and waterhole.

A ground level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes you closer than you would believe possible to the elephants. They love the natural salt lick and get onto their knees to dig into the ground with their tusks.

For hours, they eat the salty earth full of minerals. Finally they quench their thirst at the waterhole. It’s almost a face to face experience with the Big Greys!

By night, the Yasabara waterhole is floodlit so that you can observe the comings and goings of rhino, elephant, bushbuck and occasionally also the elusive Bongo.

Numerous other animals also visit this busy meeting place all day and night so there is always something to see. The "Resident Hunter" is always on hand to explain on the wildlife and landscape.
