habitats home to Chimpanzees in Tanzania.
This
program is highly discerning and enjoyed by guests
who appreciate unique experiences. Because of the
travel times and distance, 2 full days in the park
is recommended. The location of Gombe Stream Camp
and Mahale Mountains National Park is situated perfectly
by Lake Tanganyika, world’s second deepest lake.
The
lake is cushioned by white sandy shoreline, which
serves as a superb relaxation and beach vacationing
experiences enjoyed in privacy. Gombe Stream National
Park was placed on the map for discerning travelers
after the experiences of Jane Goodall who spent several
years researching and interacting at a very personal
level with the “Chimps of Gombe”.

Day
1: Leave
Dar es Salaam – Fly
to Kigoma
Leave Dar es Salaam at 08:30 by Air Tanzania (only
flight currently operating daily) to Kigoma via
Tabora; arrive there mid afternoon and transfer
to the Kigoma Hilltop Hotel. The hotel is spectacularly
perched on a hill with panoramic views of the entire
lake region.
Spend
the rest of the day enjoying the scenic and panoramic
views of Lake Tanganyika, relaxing by the swimming
pool, sunbathing on the private beach or working
out in the hotel’s gymnasium.

2 & 3 : Kigoma
– Gombe Stream National Park
After an early morning breakfast, transfer via boat
service to Gombe Stream National Park. Depart on
a trekking safari in Gombe Stream National Park
with the opportunity to view chimpanzees in their
natural habitat.
You
will visit Gombe Stream National Park and have the
opportunity to experience the park through sight
and sound. Upon sighting a chimp group, African
Spice Safaris guests will have the ability to experience/
examine the behavioral characteristics of these
highly advanced and sophisticated animals from a
distance, which sometimes includes grooming, use
of simplified tools, male dominance, and/ or mating
rituals.
Experience
the results of the behavior and interaction of the
Gombe chimps brought about Jane Goodall’s
studies. Chimpanzees are part of the ape family
and share a special genetic relationship with human
beings, over 99%, making them the closest relative
of modern man.
Just like humans, chimps share common physical and
behavioral patterns with men such as have large
brain, social characteristics and intelligence.
Although Chimpanzee viewing is normally the focus
of attention when visiting Gombe, keen clients will
be able to hear the sounds of the birds such as
turacos and cuckoos, or watch the fish eagle perched
on the branches of tree sprouting out to the shore.
There
are a number of baboons groups that can be seen
at the base of the hill near the shoreline. Guests
can take some time to discuss the impact and interaction
of the baboons with humans with their guide.
Return
to Gombe Luxury Camp at the completion of your trekking
experience and relax by the lake. Activities Included:
