3 Days/ 2 Nights Kibale & Queen Elizabeth National Parks Safari is a short trip to Kibale Forest National Park - one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking and to Queen Elizabeth National Park- outstanding treasures of Uganda and named after Queen Elizabeth II visit in 1954.

 

Kibale Forest National Park Chimpanzee are the most sought after primate by visitors, but you should look out for the black & white colobus, red tailed monkey or the grey cheeked mangabey.

 

Your guides will be able to show you pittas & different bird species and will give details of the trait of the plant species within the forest. This walk is for 6 people in a group.

 

Queen Elizabeth National Park has predators as lions, leopards, side stripped jackal and spotted hyena among others. Common Antelopes species include the kob, bush buck, topi and water buck.

 

Other animals which can even be found at mweya peninsular include Buffaloes, elephants, warthogs and hippos. There are also various primate species are available in the park including chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkey, black and white colobus monkey, olive baboons among others.

3 Days/ 2 Nights Kibale & Queen Elizabeth National Parks Safari Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Kibale National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, you begin your safari with our professional safari guide driving west to Fort Portal and on to Kibale Forest National Park.

 

The safari takes you both on asphalt and unpaved roads pass through traditional Ugandan Villages where you see the locals tending their traditional crops of millet, sorghum, beans and maize. The lush rolling hills of this region provide good "photo opportunities".

 

Along the way you also have chances of seeing birds such as the beautiful Black-headed Gonolek, Fan-tailed Widow bird, Double-Toothed Barbet, Long-Crested Eagle and some of the numerous Sun birds and Weaver birds that perch on the fence rows and power lines near the road.

 

As you approach Fort Portal in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, you enter Uganda's famous tea plantation region.

 

You arrive at Fort Portal, then, continue toward Kibale Forest one of the greatest African rainforest research reserves. This forest is famed for the variety of primates found here and it is a terrific area for birds.

Day 2: Explore Kibale National Park

In the morning, after breakfast we report to the ranger station, Kanyanchu at 08.00 to track familiarized chimps. The search for chimpanzees and other primates will include not only Chimps but also an array of birds including the Grey-Throated Flycatcher, Masked & Black-Capped Apalis’ among others in a park that boasts of 375 bird species.

 

After lunch proceed to Bigodi Village The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is an fascinating area, located in Magombe swamp. This area is recognized for a extensive array of bio diversity among which are several primates species like the red colobus monkey, baboon, black & white colobus monkey, blue monkey grey cheeked, mangabey, vervet monkey, red tailed monkey and the L’Hoest monkey.

 

Additional Mammals such as chimpanzees, Sitatunga, mongooses, bush pigs, otters plus bush bucks, also visit this swamp coming from the adjacent Kibale National Park.

 

The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a great example of a community-based approach to the natural resources management which can be of good economic benefit to the different local residents living within this area plus the tourism industry as well.

 

The Bigodi is a paradise for bird watchers. Actually skilled birders can spot up to fifty new species on a bird list. Today, 138 species of bird have been recognized within the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Among the major bird species within the sanctuary is the grand Blue Turaco.

 

After a fun filled afternoon with the locals at Bigodi we shall return to our lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Kibale Queen Elizabeth National Park Drive to Kampala

The starts with breakfast at your lodge then depart by road to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Park is dominated on its northern border by the snow-capped 16,000-foot Rwenzori Mountains-the famed "Mountains of the Moon".

 

This 767-square-mile conservation area is bordered on the North East by Lake George and on the South West by Lake Edward; its western border adjoins the Zaire Parc Du Virunga. You will see teeming herds of impala-like Uganda Kob, as well as topi, elephant and lion, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo.

 

Return back to Kampala passing through Mbarara, where you will have lunch. Arrive late evening.
