Samburu
Game Reserve 3 Days/2 Nights Kenya
Flying Safari
Samburu Game Reserve Flying Safari for 3 Days
/ 2 Nights wings you to Samburu National
Reserve. On arrival you will be met and transferred
to your safari lodge or tented camp, where you will
stay on a Full Board basis and have morning and evening
game drives in a 4 wheel drive safari vehicle, to
explore the surrounding area and track down wildlife.
Within the Samburu Reserve we use either the Samburu
Intrepids Camp or Larsen's Camp, both of which offer
high standards of comfort in a traditional safari
camp setting and are situated in shady areas beside
the Ewaso Nyiro River. Tents are sited on a wooden
platform under thatched roof. All have en-suite bathrooms
with normal flush lavatories and hot showers. In both
camps there is a restaurant, bar, lounge and swimming
pool.
An
exclusive alternative is Sasaab, comprising 9 Moroccan
style guest tents on a hillside overlooking the Ewaso
Nyiro River in an area owned by a Samburu community.
An exciting new addition is the recently opened and
luxurious Saruni Lodge in the Kalama Conservancy adjacent
to the Samburu Reserve. Activities include night and
morning game drives in Kalama Conservancy, rock climbing,
professionally-led game walks, bush dinners and star
gazing.
The
traditions and semi-nomadic heritage of the local
Samburu people are an important part of the experience.
Led by Samburu guides, guests at Saruni enjoy a feeling
of exclusivity, of having an incredibly large area
totally on their own, and a high level of comfort
and tailor-made service. We can also arrange accommodation
in Samburu Serena or Samburu Lodge. These bigger safari
lodges offer all the amenities of a comfortable hotel
in the bush but are more geared to mass tourism.

itinerary
Day
1
Nairobi – Samburu
National Reserve
This
morning we travel by light aircraft to Kenya’s northern
frontier.Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful
with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso
Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected
areas and home to species only found north of the
equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy’s zebras
and Beisa oryxes. We also enjoy Larsens Tented Camp,
our luxurious hostelry set beneath a canopy of acacia
trees along the banks of the river.

Discover
Samburu
National Reserve
Dawn
breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the
bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda
with a cup of steaming coffee in hand. Before the
dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the
elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive
in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands.
And so the day is spent in alternating pursuits of
exploration in the bush and relaxation in our cozy
camp.

– Nairobi
We enjoy an early morning game drive
and return to the lodge or camp for breakfast and
then we fly to Nairobi. We have lunch at our Nairobi

might take this opportunity to visit a few stores
which have displays and items pertaining to Kenya
and Tanzania's cultural heritage, and offers unique
carvings, artifacts, clothing and gem stones to augment
and expand the experiences you've had on your visit.
As we leave Africa we know that the old adage is true:
