Tsavo West National Park 2 Days/1 Night Kenya Flying Safari

Detailed Itinerary

Tsavo West 2 Days 1 Nights Flying Kenya Safari takes you to the road less traveled, journeying to the remote and dramatic Tsavo region in Kenya’s old Southern frontier. The combined area of Tsavo East and West parks covers an area of 21,812 square kilometers, making this one of the world's largest game sanctuaries. Tsavo East, once a great elephant and rhino domain, remains a unique wilderness destination – a land of harsh arid desert, housing a diversity of life.

In these wild surroundings, wildlife viewing is far more challenging but also often far more rewarding. Tsavo West’s boundaries encompass a huge variety of habitats, from forests and arid desert plains, to rich riverine groves and the haunting lava flows of Shetani. The endangered black rhino can be seen in the small rhino sanctuary. The park’s undisputed showpiece is the crystal clear Mzima Springs with its oasis of raffia palms and fig trees. An underwater observation post here offers a novel close encounter with the large crocodiles and pods of hippo that flourish in the cold waters.

Day 1
Nairobi – Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, we drive to Wilson Airport for our scheduled early morning flight to Tsavo National Park. The Park is a vast expansion of African savanna with a more diverse array of habitats which include open plains, semi desert scrub, woodland, Chyulu Hills and rock outcrops. It’s famous for the Red Elephants, Oryx, and Gerenuk among other mammal’s species and bird life. Other notable features include Mzima Springs which are water source for Mombasa Town, Shetani Lava Flow and Ash cones, which is an example of recent volcanic eruption. Movie the Ghost and the Darkness was shot here.
