Board your International flight bound
for Nairobi, Kenya.
Day
2
Nairobi
Welcome to Nairobi, the city in the
sun. An awaiting Safari Director accompanies you to
the elegant Norfolk Hotel or the warm and cozy Nairobi
Serena Hotel.
Day 3
Nairobi –
Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters
Conservancy
This
morning we drive from Nairobi and proceed north, driving
through lush tea and coffee estates to Sweetwaters
Serena Tented Camp. Sweetwater’s land, the Ol
Pejeta Conservancy, and its sumptuous ranch were once
the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan
Kashoggi. We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming
haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to
provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps. In fact Sweetwaters
boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio
of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya. Moreover,
the camp has its own private waterhole and saltlick
so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters.
Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking,
lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by pool,
Sweetwaters is bound to delight.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy –
Samburu Game Reserve
This morning, travel to the Samburu
Game Reserve. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely
beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely
Uaso Nyiro River. We also enjoy Samburu Serena Lodge
our luxurious hostelry set on the banks of the Uaso
Nyiro River, blending perfectly into its surroundings
of tall trees, reflecting the lifestyle of the local
Samburu people through the use of native materials
and design. An afternoon game drive reveals unique
northern species, including the reticulated Giraffe,
Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s Zebra and the graceful long-necked
Gerenuk.

Samburu Game Reserve
Absorb the beautiful surroundings during
morning and afternoon bush drives. Watch crocodiles
basking on the muddy riverbanks and the Vervet monkey
frolicking in the late afternoon sun. At night, leopard
can sometimes be seen on the riverbank opposite your
lodge. Samburu is an excellent place for the photographer
as well. The Park's vivid colors and the contrasts
between sky, bush and sand are a must to capture on
film.

Samburu –
Masai Mara Game Reserve
This
morning we enplane for the Mara, winging west over the
dramatic Great Rift Valley to the unspoiled savannah
of the Masai Mara where magnificent events await. Here
we may savour a Bush Walk with an expert naturalist
guide, experiencing the world of the Mara from the ground
up— an invigorating opportunity to stretch our
legs and be a part of the land. Or we may try a Hot-Air
Balloon Safari. Game viewing is never dull in the Mara,
and patience is often rewarded with unique sightings,
such as a pride of lion stalking their prey, a solitary
leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of
an acacia tree, or a herd of elephant protecting their
young from predators. Our accommodations are equally
superlative at the Mara Safari Club or Kichwa Tempo
Camp with two nights under canvas, recalling the golden
age of safaris.

Day
7 – Day 8
Masai Mara Game Reserve
The
search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues
the next two days during extensive game runs. On the
plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus
some of Africa's largest prides of lion, herds of
zebra, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, the elusive cheetah
and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. Running along
the Tanzanian border, the Masai Mara forms Kenya's
northern extension of the Greater Serengeti ecosystem.
It
is here that the annual migration takes place, when
more than a million wildebeest, with zebra and gazelle,
march north to graze on the Mara's lush grasses. This
vast, open space is like nowhere else on earth and is
the perfect place to pause and reflect. We also visit
a Masai village and glimpse life so ancient and yet
so enduring that it astonishes. The true pinnacle of
our journey to the Mara however will be Bush Sundowners—a
civilized Cocktail party staged in the untamed wilds
of Africa.
